We provide excellent award-winning care for children from birth to 5 years.

At Peter Pan Nursery your children will find a warm, friendly welcome and excellent care.

We treat every child as an individual and strive to provide a stimulating, spacious, safe and secure environment. We have been providing your local community with good quality, inspiring childcare since 1994.

Our Staff

We believe that having the right team is the most important factor. We aim to have a team of qualified, confident, experienced and friendly role models. Practitioners are involved in continuous professional development with regular training.

All staff are paediatric first aid trained and have their food hygiene certification. Our management team have also carried out the First Aid at Work training.

We also offer apprenticeships at Peter Pan Nursery, which gives us the opportunity to train the staff up to a high quality within childcare. We have a nominated practitioner who is within our management team who will lead practice across the early year's foundation stage (EYFS).

Our History

Over 30 years ago, in 1994, Ellen and Lamar Dunk founded what is now Peter Pan Nursery. After the birth of her daughter, Marla, Ellen made the decision to follow her passion for childcare full-time and purchased a derelict building, which she lovingly transformed into a nursery over six months. Initially caring for toddlers and preschool children, the nursery soon grew and expanded to welcome babies too. Today, Peter Pan proudly provides high-quality childcare for up to 40 children each day.

Ellen’s vision was always to create a warm, welcoming, home-from-home environment. Strong partnerships with parents remain at the heart of what we do, helping us truly understand and support each child’s individual needs.

In 2020, Ellen sadly passed away, and the nursery was passed to her daughter Marla, who has been part of the management team since 2011 and has worked at the setting since 2006. Now the sole director, Marla continues her mother’s legacy with the support of a dedicated and experienced team. Despite the challenges of recent years, Peter Pan has continued to thrive.

Our long-standing management team plays a key role in this success. Manager Lisa Walsh has been with us for 30 years, starting as a nursery practitioner before stepping into her role in 2020. Deputy Manager Michelle “Chelle” Crocker has been part of the Peter Pan family for 27 years, beginning her journey here as a student in the Baby Room. Together, they ensure the nursery runs smoothly and to the highest standard, supporting our wonderful team and the families we care for.

Bristol Standard

Every nursery will tell you it is the best, but as a parent, you need to be sure. You simply cannot take chances with your childcare.

We feel the same, so we are proud to say that we have worked towards and gained the coveted Bristol Standard. This is an independent quality control scheme created by Bristol Council to set high operational standards for childcare providers. It’s voluntary, and it’s not easy, but we think it’s worth it. Quite simply, it means you can be certain that your child is spending time in a well-managed, safe, high-performing nursery.
