We provide excellent award-winning care for children from birth to 5 years.

We treat every child as an individual and strive to provide a stimulating, spacious, safe and secure environment. We have been providing your local community with good quality, inspiring childcare since 1994.
Our Staff
We believe that having the right team is the most important factor. We aim to have a team of qualified, confident, experienced and friendly role models. Practitioners are involved in continuous professional development with regular training.
All staff are paediatric first aid trained and have their food hygiene certification. Our management team have also carried out the First Aid at Work training.
We also offer apprenticeships at Peter Pan Nursery, which gives us the opportunity to train the staff up to a high quality within childcare. We have a nominated practitioner who is within our management team who will lead practice across the early year's foundation stage (EYFS).
Our History
30 years ago, in 1994, Ellen and Lamar Dunk created a family-run nursery. Ellen was previously a childminder and worked part-time after the birth of her daughter Marla. This is when Ellen decided to go into childcare full-time and purchased the now Peter Pan Nursery. The building was derelict and took 6 months to refurbish and turn into a childcare setting! To start off, we only catered for toddlers and preschool children (aged 2–4 years old) on the ground floor. As the nursery flourished, we expanded, to welcome babies onto the first floor. We have now been providing excellent childcare for 40 children a day for the past 30 years!
Ellen’s ethos was to create a warm, welcoming, and loving atmosphere, within a cosy home-from-home environment. We pride ourselves on our partnership with parents and feel we understand the children’s individual needs through these relationships and quality interactions.
Sadly in 2020, Ellen Dunk passed away, leaving the nursery to her daughter Marla who has been managing it since 2011. We reregistered the setting as a limited company in 2020 and it has been continuing to thrive, even with all of the pressures of Covid 19, updates from the government and all the behind-the-scenes legal matters. Marla is now the sole director of Peter Pan and has a wonderful team working alongside her to continue the excellent care we have always provided for past and present families. We have a fantastic management team who are both valued members of the Peter Pan family. The Manager, Lisa Walsh started working here 28 years ago as a nursery practitioner and worked her way up to the practice managerial role in 2020. The Deputy Manager, Michelle (Chelle) Crocker has beenhere for 25 years, and started working in the Baby Room after carrying out her student placement with us. They ensure that the day to day running of the nursery is carried out to a high standard and support the rest of our fabulous team.
Bristol Standard
Every nursery will tell you it is the best, but as a parent, you need to be sure. You simply cannot take chances with your childcare.

We feel the same, so we are proud to say that we have worked towards and gained the coveted Bristol Standard. This is an independent quality control scheme created by Bristol Council to set high operational standards for childcare providers. It’s voluntary, and it’s not easy, but we think it’s worth it. Quite simply, it means you can be certain that your child is spending time in a well-managed, safe, high-performing nursery.
